Solar energy is clean, abundant, renewable energy. The U.S. has some of the richest solar resources in the world, primarily in the Desert Southwest. Today’s technology allows us to capture this power in several ways giving the public and commercial entities flexible ways to employ both the heat and light of the sun.

Foresight projects harness solar energy by converting light to electricity, called solar photovoltaics energy or Solar PV. Electricity generated from photovoltaics is interconnected to the regional electric grid and distributed to residential and commercial consumers by the local electric utility.

Photovoltaic power generating systems are arrays of cells containing a material that converts solar radiation into direct current electricity. Siting a photovoltaic system requires analysis of average energy values determined by the number of photovoltaic modules that are directed to the sun with a specific inclination.

The panels are the electricity generation element and can be in placed in series and/or parallel to obtain the required nominal voltage. These panels consist of a certain number of cells protected by glass, encapsulated in a plastic material, all framed with a metal profile.

The panels are arranged with interconnecting modules to increase their reliability. These modules consist of square silicon photovoltaic cells. The use of these types of cells precludes the need for series/parallel circuits used by other manufacturers in the construction of high power modules. This kind of cell ensures electrical generation from dawn until dusk, taking advantage of all the possible energy provided by the Sun. The cellular panels are protected with a special, low iron, non-reflective glass cover to ensure consistency of color overtime.

The panels are supported by a robust mechanical construction of solid anodized aluminum side frames capable of supporting the weight and dimensions of these modules and the toughened glass anti-reflective front. The system is designed to withstand the most inclement weather conditions and operate efficiently without interruption during a lifespan of more than 25 years.

The outdoor connection box with positive and negative terminals includes two shunt diodes whose purpose is to reduce the possibility of energy loss due to partial shadows on one or more modules within the system, as well as preventing breaks in the electrical circuit caused by this fault. Panels are electrically connected to the grounding system of the plant in accordance with current local codes and regulations.

Wind is clean, abundant, renewable energy. The United States boasts the perfect combination of massive electricity demand and a wind resource that is one of the best in the world. Wind is cost competitive with all sources of new electricity. Turbine prices and capital costs have dropped sharply in recent years. More efficient U.S.-based manufacturing is saving on transportation, and technology improvements are making turbines better and more efficient.

Because wind energy’s “fuel” is free, it reduces the risk associated with volatile fossil fuel prices. Wind displaces electricity that would otherwise be produced by burning fossil fuels, thus helping to conserve precious natural resources and limit price hikes.
